The Great Greek influences @ Malaysia Architecture

Sculpture found within SEGI University College compound, Kota Damansara building, which uses Greek Architecture as a concept to build the sculpture, more likely a column to hold the round tomb above it. As you can see, the upper part of the column is actually a Corinthian column originate from Greek Architecture as well, whereas the lower part of the column is represent by the sculpture and the added sculptured flower. It is believed that the sculpture build stands a meaning in giving the student education and experience as well as guiding them for a good future.

It's a kitsch sculpture where the design of the column is originate from Greek Architecture. As the picture above shown, most part of the column was replaced by human figures making it a classical column, at the same time, it gives an impact to the viewer to show the unity of the power of human could actually hold up the roof of the entire building. In my opinion, the human figure is in vertical posture instead of a irregular posture so that it can support the roof of the building.

Another picture taken from SEGI University College showing the building influenced by Greek Architecture again. From the picture above, we can see the tall pillar located right in front of the building in which is also known as an ionic column used during Greek time.
This is not a kitsch sculpture as it was built or designed using the column from Greek directly without modifying or changing the style of the column.

This primary school building shown above have several elements that resembles ionic pillars and also arches which is similar to the temples in Greek time. The Pillars are built under the roof of the main entrance and the arches windows can be seen at the left side of the building. This building is known to be one of the finest building in Sarawak during the time it was built as it was unique and different from the other buildings which were built in wood. Again, it's not a kitsch sculpture also as the same reason, it was built using the column originate from Greek directly without modifying the column.
The National Monument looks like a tomb for Malaysia's soldiers that fought for our country . “To Our Glorious Dead with dates of the First World War (1914-1918), Second World War (1939-1945) and the Emergency (1948-1960) was written on the tomb scripture. However, according to research this tomb does not contain any bodies of the soldiers or war fighters. The tomb served as a purpose to remind the heroes of our country that had fallen or in other way, to commemorate them.It is also believed that the tomb was influenced by Greek's culture where the sculptures purpose is to show the actual person's figure or face that is buried in the tomb. This is not a kitsch sculpture as well seemed it was influenced by Greek's culture only instead of taking the originate sculpture from Greek and modify it.

The picture shown above is the cenotaph located on the same hill as Tugu Negara, The National Monument, in Taman Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, and is erected by British Administrators The cenotaph is an empty tomb which is used to remind us of those who are dead during World War I and World War II as well as the Civil War of 1948-1960. Our Malaysian soldiers who were sacrificed in battles for our country are reminded with this cenotaph. This Cenotaph resembles the Cenotaph which can be found in Greek Culture a long time ago. It was made from marble stones which can be found in cenotaphs during Greek time also.
